I'm building a karaoke system and got these for the price and have been very, very pleased with them. I saw a couple of 'bad' reviews here but after almost a year, they are still performing beyond my expectations. If I had to say anything negative about them it would only be mild.. they seem to be sensitive and pick up the sound of being handled (ie: picked up, put down, being placed in a mic clip) But holding them or moving from one hand to the other doesn't present any problems. As for the guy with the battery problems, I've been using the same rechargeable batteries since the day I got them. Rechargeables just don't last like regular battaries but if you keep these mics in the charger when there not in use, you can use them all night long... What else can I say, you can get better mics for more money but if all you need is a good basic well constructed good sounding mic, you can't go wrong with these. My only regret is I didn't buy a 4 mic system!!

We use these microphones for home karaoke, they work great. Everything is wireless nowadays, microphones too. Much better than those wired ones we had in the past, a whole lot less cleaning too.

Price and performance wise, this mic is as good or better than the sm58.
I have been using 3 the of Behringer xm8500 mics in my home studio for over 5 years now. The sound or 'flavor' of this mic is almost identical to an early 90's Shure sm58 that I also use in the studio. The only noticeable difference between the two (sound wise) is the xm8500 has a tiny bit more output, and the presence peak is slightly lower in the frequency scale - I would describe this as the sm58 peak being slightly airy and cutting, and the xm8500 being thick and meaty. If you are using this mic with a 3 band eq, you can bump the mids slightly and match the sound of the xm8500 to that of the sm58 with no problem.
Build wise, this mic is as beastly and tank-like as the sm58. It has a nice heft to it, solid metal housing, all that good stuff.

Using this with the cheap but good quality pre-amp from ART (around $30), see my review there as well. Before this purchase I didn't know a whole lot about the various types of Microphones and cabling and pre amps and amps and balanced versus unbalanced but finally have a setup that works though requires a pre-amp. Some things to consider:
1. Use a pre-amp for any dynamic cardiod mic (like Behringer xm8500). Low impedance microphones like xm8500 require pre-amps or perform better. Without the pre-amp, I had to turn my receiver full max to barely get any sound from it and I was afraid I was going to pop/blow the speakers if I switched inputs by mistake
2. Phantom power is NOT required for this Mic. This is not a condensor mic
3. Use XLR male to XLR female cable between Mic and pre-amp. I had ordered XLR to 1/4 headphone jack cable and even though it physically connected to the 1/4 input on the pre-amp, the gain was not sufficient (has to do... Read more

I needed a cheap mic for podcasting. I expected a plastic hunk of junk at this price, but this mic is constructed very much like an SM58, with a thick, rugged metal chassis and screen. And it comes in a nice plastic carrying case. Sounds similar to an SM58, too. I'd highly recommend it for performance, podcasts, etc.

I was pleased with the speed of deliver of this product and its overall performance and construction. I have been using the headsets once a week to assist the dance instructors in one of the programs that I participate at as a volunteer. The sound quality is quite good, clear, loud and the range more than ample for a dance floor with over thirty people in a space roughly 40'x40'. I would give this product a better rating ... however, the last two dance sessions, I have noticed that one of the headsets is experiencing some drop-out. I checked the batteries and even replaced them with new ones but the problem is still there albeit less so. Don't know what may be the cause, whether the product has a defect or could it be due to something else, like rf interference or even placement of the receiver. Both headsets functioned quite well initially so I've got my fingers crossed that the problem is not with the equipment.

Happy with the product so far. For such a low price, couldn't have got a better product. Excellent sound quality - bought it for Church and do not regret it. Although there are no instructions for assembling the over-the-head microphone, its very simple and easy to figure out ! Did a trial yesterday and seems to work fine. Will give further review after the mass this sunday - the real test !!!

I needed a wireless mike adapter for a small hall at our rv park. We had already installed a residential type sound system and a Karioke unit was available. The Gemini worked great and had very good audio characteristics, level was good, cabling was just what was needed to connect to existing system. Great unit for the money we spent on it.
